By completing an adoption application you are acknowledging that you have read and understand our policies.

1. Unaltered animals  – If you have animals in the home that have not been spayed/neutered for reasons that are NOT medically-related, then you will not be eligible to adopt from ADORE. Our sole purpose is to do our part to decrease pet over population!

2. All ADORE Pet Rescue pets will live indoors. We do not adopt dogs or cats who will be outdoors only animals. We are adopting out family pets who will be treated like family and live and sleep inside with the rest of the household.

3. EVERY animal will be placed with the BEST FIT for that animal. We take into consideration the age and size of the animal, activity level, breed, and any other information that we have about the animal. We also evaluate age and lifestyle as well as any physical restrictions of the applicant or anyone living in the home. Our responsibility is to the animal and finding a home where they can live out the rest of their life.

4. Anyone who is considering or owns a pet should have a plan for that pet in case the unthinkable happens. ADORE will require a cosigner to assume responsibility for the pet for anyone over the age of 65 in the event that they become incapacitated for any reason.

5. Annual Care and immunizations- ADORE requires proof that all animals in the home receive yearly vaccinations, including dhpp/fvrcp, and rabies, unless they have been deemed medically exempt by a veterinarian and this is documented. All dogs will also require proof of monthly heartworm prevention.

6. ADORE’s intentions are to adopt out family pets. We are not intending for our pets to be adopted out for the sole purpose of being an ESA or Service Animal. As far as we are concerned they will be a family pet and therefore will require approval from the landlord as such.

7. ADORE does not know the background of every animal that comes into the rescue. All animals do live in foster homes and during that time their personality is assessed and they are assessed for any behavioral or medical issues. Adore collects all information possible and will provide that information to all potential adopters. There is always the possibility that a new medical or behavioral issue may arise after the animal has left the rescue that we were unaware of.  ADORE will do their best to assist with the situation but ultimately will not be held responsible.

8. ADORE is completely against declawing of cats. Over the past 10 years there has been a significant amount of research done which has found this procedure to be harmful and can results in medical and behavioral issues. ADORE will not allow any cats adopted from our rescue to be declawed. We will not adopt to anyone who has declawed a cat in the past without medical reason.

9.  For anyone who is applying for a restricted breed, priority will go to homeowners.  The following animals are considered common breed restrictions. Pit bulls (American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, and American Bulldog) German Shepherds, Akitas, Rottweilers, Boxers, Doberman Pinschers, Mastiff Breeds, Malamutes, and Chows.  Anyone who is applying for any of the above breeds who rents, will need to provide documented allowance.  It is our duty to comply with restrictions set forth by housing authorities regardless as to whether or not they follow our values.
